more frivolity

looking through photos always results in me reliving the events of that, er, event. in addition to checking eveyrone out more properly (and making sure my zits had enough concealer on them AHHAH JK).
and i realised recently that i've had so many gathereings for which i never put up any photos at all! so here, the past more than a month, in some random snapshots.
sam/cheryl/me. at jin's house for cheryl's birthday where 4 of us tried our darnest and i mean DARNEST to cook her an authentic japanese meal. props to jin, who reached heights of domesticity we never knew he had in him.
props to sam too, for being an excellent dishwasher! i was impressed then, but given what i do at work now, no sweat man! haha.

next, bobby's bigass birthday blowout!
before the party really got started.
yish/tmr/makoto/yeek/me/saif.
it was great seeing everyone again, althou i must say that the long trek to ulu ulu changi was no mean feat. many thanks to efficient cabs and people who drive!

additionally, the theme was HATS OFF! so we all got our groove and headgear on...i thought yish was uber smart i mean, a santa hat!?!?! everyone was probably loving her cute little hat. many thanks to unsporting class boys who turned up in... jeans and tshirts.
cutting edge fashion, that!
cheers to maya also, my bohemian flower-child sista! we both wore floaty frocks with headbands, NAICE! fun experiemtn.
the class, creating havoc as usual. we're irrepressible but wwe have alot of fun doing what we do. GOOD CLEAN FUN. cheers to that for life, guys. i mean FOR LIFE.

then we had another of many many house parties, this time in siglap.
dearest mr ashish kamani hosted many many many people at his pad. and i don't know how he did it, but he did.
the gang, as usual.

shen/div/bob/nic/trish/me. the usual craziness and zaniness from the gang. you never know what you're going to expect, but i guess that's what makes the dynamism that exists so bloody attractive to everyone outside of it. i'm glad i got to be a part of it all...if many times to be the one getting the mickey taken out of them.

vik/me/nalli. there were quite alot of ac people there too, given ak's roots in ac HAHA. but i t was nice to see everyone again! admitedly not EVERYONE was there, but still, gatherings like these make one remember just how interconnected we all are. the social circles are ridiculously small, at least where i'm from, and some bit of extrapolation to the future yields potential possibilities i don't even wanna begin thinking about. very OC-esque...and i don't mean the high school kids. EEEEPPP!

the craziest moment of the night i think. shen and i reliving a moment from jc where he piggybacked me. so we were reminiscing, and before you knew it, someone snapped a picture (thank you you for that opportunistic streak you possess!). very entertaining, but obviously very short-lived, haha.

ashish/bob/me. my only photo with ZE HOST. hostest with the mostest ash was most accomodating, if elusive. but with that many people to entertain, he's forgiven for social transgression. thanks for everything dude and i will always help you gather troops like i did this time! :)

girls in red! with marc and brandon. we were just being really poser...like hamming it up in front of the mystery camera person.

so my standard modus operandi is always:
1) bring camera
2) pass camera to chaperone upon reaching venue
3) tell chaperone to:
a) use camera for self
b) use camera for me
4) wake up the next morning for a review
5) delete anything unspeakable
6) edit out blemishes on everyone *yea thank me, guys!
7) facebook
8) blog, if time permits
9) credit mystery camera person for the night

and there you have it: a recipe for documentation of events. cheers guys!

PS muchos gracias again to everyone who's taken the time out to visit me at work--its a very welcome perk up, almost as much as seeing certain customers... ahah KIDDING! its alaways the most pleasant surprise and definitely the highlight of my day. thankyou!

work by the numbers

its been ages since i took time to reflect, be it on my blog or in my trusty journal.
work's been pretty fun albeit tiring...i guess that's just how it is. i feel rather strange even referring to it as work...unless you mean work in the scientific, physics-defined way, which has mainly to do with work being equated to expending energy, which i happen to do alot of. carrying cartons, washing plates, wiping tables, returning dry dishes to their storage locations, displaying cakes, putting cookies in jars, toasting sandwiches...these are just some activities for which i am paid to do.
there's a reason why less physcially strenuous but more brainy work is more handsomely remunerated, and its simply because knowledge = power. anyone can do the tasks i do. but i choose to learn life lessons through such seemingly menial tasks.
SO.
just a rough breakdown so far.
in one week:
-number of plates broken: 2
-number of cups broken: 2
-number of dishes washed: try 400-500
-number of friends made: many
-number of sandwiches eaten: one a day.
-number of spillages in the fridge: 1
-number of breakfast rolls made a day (yea im the sandwich lady!): 13
-number of bagels wrapped a day: about 20
-number of beautiful mornings i thank God for: 1 per day
-number of rude customers: 2
-number of times mistaken to be american: 10-15
-number of phone numbers received, unsolicited: 2
-number of friends who visited so far: 6

i'm really glad this is all in His time...that concept of a bigger plan than mine is one i've clung tightly to since i finally understood that wanting control in my own hands, while great, cant compare to putting that same control in His hands. that's how it is, and how it should be.
i took the job not to prove a point, nor for the money (PUHLEEZE, GUYS!!! hahahah). but i took it because somehow, i knew that it was a step that would eventually help me be a better person. how exactly, that remains to be seen. but so far, i know that God's work in my life has made me able to take on a job no one wouldve thought i could do! :)
